Masarang at Kennedy School’s Green Marketplace

Delicious cookies and brownies made with Masarang organic palm sugar, free range eggs and fairtrade cocoa sold like ‘hot cakes’ at Kennedy’s 3rd annual Green Week. Mae and Grace sold 70 of them in less than 10 minutes raising more than $500 for Masarang Foundation. Masarang cards featuring beautiful orangutans at play were also sold raising more than $700 in total.

Should you be tempted to try the brownies, please follow the recipe below:-

Masarang Brownies (makes 16 squares) –
100g butter
250g Masarang Palm Sugar
2 eggs
40g Cocoa
65g plain flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4tsp baking powder

1tsp vanilla essence

Method:
Preheat oven to 350oF or 175oC. Grease 8″ or 20cm square pan.
Stir butter with sugar over a pan of boiling water. Beat until smooth, leave to cool for 5 minutes.
Beat in eggs, one at a time, then add the rest of the ingredients and beat until smooth.
Pour into greased square pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
